Your First Logbook Entry
Take the Controls
The spark of your aviation career begins with a single hour. Experience flight as it was meant to be — from the left seat.
What a discovery flight actually is
A discovery flight is the single best way to find out if learning to fly is for you. It is not a sightseeing ride — it is a real first lesson. After a thorough pre-flight briefing, you climb into the left seat of our Piper Cherokee 140, take the controls during taxi, takeoff, and cruise, and fly over the Gulf coast with an FAA-certified instructor guiding you the entire time.
You leave with your first official logbook entry — and that hour counts toward your Private Pilot License. No experience required, just curiosity.
No experience required. Just passion.

Discovery flight — common questions
Do I need experience for a discovery flight?
None at all. The discovery flight is designed for complete beginners. You will take the controls with a certified instructor right beside you the whole time.
Does the discovery flight count toward my license?
Yes. You receive an official logbook entry, and that flight time counts toward the 40-hour FAA minimum for your Private Pilot License.
How long is the experience?
Plan for about 90 minutes total: roughly a 60-minute pre-flight briefing and walkaround, then your time in the air over the Southwest Florida coast.
